Yamaha WaveRunner gauge bezel, replicated
A worn gauge bezel from a Yamaha WaveRunner, 3D scanned and printed as a new part that holds the original gauge cluster.

The challenge
The bezel that frames the gauge cluster on a Yamaha WaveRunner personal watercraft was scuffed, scratched and marked from use. The owner wanted a new one. The replacement had to match the original's shape closely, because it frames the dash and holds the existing gauge cluster. It also needed the same clip tabs and screw holes as the original, so it would mount the same way as the factory part.
Our process
- Placed scan markers on the original bezel and 3D scanned it on a turntable.
- Also scanned the gauge cluster that sits inside the bezel.
- Rebuilt the scan as a CAD model, keeping the clip tabs and screw holes.
- Printed the bezel in black on tree supports.
- Removed the supports and test fitted the original gauge cluster in the new bezel.
The result
The new bezel matches the original's shape, with the clip tabs and screw holes in the same places. The original gauge cluster fits into it. The printed surface is an even black, without the scuffs and paint marks on the old part. Because the bezel now exists as a CAD model, another one can be printed without scanning the original again.
